- ItemVisualización microscópica y perfilométrica de cuatro técnicas de terminado superficial sobre una cerámica dental(UNIVERSIDAD NACIONAL DE COLOMBIA, 2003) CAROLINA FERNANDEZ PARRA; ADRIANA CAROLINA MARIÑO POVEDA; CAMILO ANDRES CABANZO CASTRO; Fernández Parra, Carolina; Mariño Poveda, Adriana Carolina; Cabanzo Castro, Camilo Andrés; Amaya Rey, Gonzalo; Delgado Mejía, EdgarExperimental study that compares four surface finishing techniques (autoglazing, application of glaze powders, “finishing agent” powders and diamond paste) on an Omega 900 feldspathic dental ceramic, versus the vestibular surface of natural teeth. Forty ceramic discs were fabricated and randomly assigned to four treatment groups, and ten maxillary central incisors were collected and preserved according to ISO 4849. Surface topography was evaluated with dial gauge comparators, a diamond-tip profilometer and atomic force microscopy, analysing contour, waviness, micro-roughness and nano-roughness using Ra, Rt and Rz parameters. Results show differences between finishing methods: autoglazing is the procedure that most closely reproduces the micro-roughness of natural teeth, whereas glazing with powders yields the lowest nano-roughness values and appears to be the most favourable with regard to bacterial adhesion. The clinical implications of finishing method choice on dental wear and the biocompatibility of ceramic restorations are discussed.
