    Programa de vigilancia epidemiológica de efectos en la salud por niveles de exposiciones ambientales elevadas del contaminante formaldehído en el Instituto Nacional de Medicina Legal y Ciencias Forenses Regional Bogotá D.C.

    This monograph presents the design of an epidemiological surveillance program for workers exposed to high levels of formaldehyde at the National Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences, Bogotá Regional Office. Based on previous environmental and personal measurements in the histotechnology, macrophotography and morgue areas, it diagnoses chemical risk factors and working conditions, including process descriptions, characterization of exposure sources and a review of current occupational health legislation. The study defines the target population, inclusion criteria, data‑collection tools and procedures to follow up respiratory and dermatologic effects associated with formaldehyde, using questionnaires, self‑reports and medical assessments. Finally, it proposes technical, administrative and worker‑focused intervention measures, as well as management indicators to evaluate the program’s effectiveness and to guide preventive decision‑making at the Institute.
